Haley Joel Osment is the kid who saw dead people. He was also Forrest Gumps son, and a slew of other charaters in blockuster films. He rose quickly to Macaulay Culkin status, but just as quickly dropped off the map. What happened to him?
He has a similar story to the other actors featured in this weeks vlog. Kel Mtchell from Keenan and Kel, the Spy Kids, and Bug Hall are all featured below. Check it out!
The Sandlot is a movie about overcoming hardship and finiding hope in a dark world . . . HAHA! Totally kidding! This movie is about nine friends and the American past time; baseball. But even if you are not a baseball fan you will enjoy the cleverness of each character as they each strive to become the Great Bambino while also doing all they can to avoid the blind James Earl Jones and his dog Hercules (The Beast). But what happened to these kids that stole our hearts and made this movie a classic? Where are they now?
The highest paid child actor of all time did 14 movies in six years and then disappeared. Where did he go? He retired from film at age 14, then came back for a few films in 2003 and has done a couple since, but has spent most of his time out of the media. He keeps to himself, and doesn't have publicists to tell us about him and how he's doing. Mac is a mystery.
Kieran on the other hand is still active on the acting scene, but also stays out of the tabloids. Watch the short video below about where they are as far as we know.
Jake Lloyd, the kid from Episode I. What happened to him? He is one of the leading actors in one of the biggest movies of all time and then he disappeared. Where did he go?
WATCH ME!!!
(Audio Transcription) Jake Lloyd was the child of a talent agent, so it's no wonder that he got started in Hollywood at such a young age. Now if his name isn't ringing any bells that's OK. He wasn't on of the most popular child actors in Hollywood, especially when compared to someone like Macaulay Culkin. He was able to snag some big rolls those in some films. The first of which was Jingle All the Way which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, a workaholic father, and Sinbad, who was also a father and kind of a crazy mailman, but Jake really hit the big time when he starred in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Jake of course played the young Anakin Skywalker who was found on the planet Tatooine by Qui-gon Jinn, who was played by Liam Neeson. Anakin quickly falls in love with Queen Amidala, or her street name Padme, who's played by Natalie Portman, ad is then trained by a young Obi-wan Kenobi, who is of course played by Ewan McGregor. It's amazing how many of these stars went on to have great careers after starting in Star Wars. Episode I was of course a huge success at that time and so it is no surprise that a lot of popularity came to Jake Lloyd at that point. George Lucas of course wanted to get the word out. Whether is was getting action figures or video games produced, or getting each Star Wars character on a bag of Doritos, it didn't matter, he wanted to get it done. Jake said that he was doing about 60 interviews a day with different television shows, newspapers, magazines, all in all it was about 60 every single day. Jake says that as an 11 year old he felt very exploited by George Lucas, and still holds a grudge against George. On top of the constant interviews he said he was constantly bullied by other kids. He felt like a real outsider. He did play Anakin Skywalker in one of the highest grossing movies of all time, so of course where ever he went everybody knew him. It was hard to go anywhere, he said, without someone making a lightsaber noise at him. This of course doesn't seem like a big deal, or even an intense type of bullying of any kind, but the problem is everywhere you go, everyone you see is making lightsaber noises. Think about how annoying that is. See, not cool guys, not cool. I know it may be hard to sympathies with this kid because he did make a few million dollars off of just doing one movie, but it did cost him his identity, and most of his childhood. Jake said he won't even watch Star Wars anymore. He did reprise the part of Anakin for a couple video games but after that completely quit acting in film. He's appeared at a few events within the past few years signing autographs and things like that but other than that he really does all he can to stay out of the public eye. We are happy that this child actor's story didn't end in DUI's and drug use like we read so much about in the tabloids today, but it's sad that it did end with such a bitter taste in his mouth for those who helped to get him that career.
Joseph Gordon-Levit is quickly becoming one of the hottest celebrities in Hollywood. It seems that every movie you see he's starring in. Just a year ago he was in Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio and more recently has been in three or four other movies that have either just come out or will be coming out within the next few months. The man seems to be unstoppable, but did you know that in 1994 he starred as Roger in the movie Angels in the Outfield? After that he was on Roseanne and then in '96 he grew his hair out and was on 3rd Rock from the Sun. He worked on that show until 2001 and then disappeared off the radar. He did some voice over work and played some parts in movies that no one has ever heard of, but in 2009 he was on 500 days of Summer with Zooey DeChannel, and since that he seems to have been in everything. Moving right along now to Christine Taylor, who is not one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood but is one of the greats. She's of course married to Ben Stiller and they have two beautiful children; their son Quinlin and daughter Ella. Christine has been in some great movies but primarily is in films starring her husband, Ben Stiller. She of course usually plays the serious roles in movies like Zoolander or Dodgeball, also starring Vince Vaughn. But before any of those movies she was on the Nickelodeon show, Hey Dude, where she played Melody, a teenager that lives on a ranch with a bunch of other teenagers that's kind of like a summer camp thing, and they kinda get into trouble and just have different adventures . . . it's real fun stuff. Next on the list is Hollywood heart throb, Ryan Gosling. Who of course was in the running for Sexiest Man of the Year, but lost to Bradley Cooper. But that does not revoke him of his Hottie Card, at least in my opinion. Look at this! He even makes eating fast food look good. Any way, moving on, Ryan was of course made famous in movies like The Notebook where he started opposite Rachel McAdams. Since then he has of course moved up the Hottie rating chart starring in movies like Crazy Stupid Love opposite Steve Carrell. But do you remember a few years ago where he was in Remember the Titans and he played the skinny white kid who listened to the terrible music. Haha, good times. Actually now that I'm thinking about it I think he was on the Disney show, the Mickey Mouse Club way back when. That's right he starred with some other big Hollywood names. People like JT! That's right! Justin Timberlake! Before he was quitting the music industry, or before he was in the movie The Social Network, or Friends with Benefits with Mila Kunis . . . let's see, before he was even in N'sync, before he had that Top Ramen noodle hair He was on the Mickey Mouse Club! Here he is with Ryan just acting out a skit! And- Wait . . . who's that girl he with in that picture? and there she is again with Ryan! I know who it is! It's 90's pop sensation Britney Spears! Britney of course topped the charts with songs like, Crazy, and Oops I Did it Again. Oh, "She's so lucky (bom bom bom) She's a star, but then her life started going down hill. She married this Kevin Federline guy who was apparently the biggest jerk in the world and turned into this, and then she went crazy! "She cried, cried, cried with her lonely heart" and then shaved her head. We are of course pleased to announce that Britney is back to normal and back on the radio for those catchy tunes of hers. Who would have ever thought watching the Mickey Mouse Club growing up that she would have turned into such a nightmare at one point. Any way moving on, did you know that there is one star that is huge now that was on the Mickey Mouse Club originally? Do you recognize that face? I'll give you a chance to guess. 3 2 1 buzz! You lose! It's Christina Aguilera! She of course was battling it out a few years ago on the pop charts with Britney Spears but really doesn't seem to be doing a ton of her own music anymore, but is helping to produce others and right now is a judge on the show the voice. Which is essentially like American Idol but a little different. You know it's really amazing when you think about it. Some of the biggest names in Hollywood started out together just a few years ago as kids on the same show. Last on our list today in Hollywood funny guy, Seth Rogen. Who of course you recognize from movies like The Green Hornet, Pineapple Express, and Knocked up. But way back in 2001 he played a very small part on Donnie Darko, a really weird movie starring Jack Gyllenhaal. Just prior to that however Seth really got his start on a show called Freaks and Geeks which only ran for two seasons, but had big names like Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Jason Segel.
To day we will be discussing the cast of the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and where they are today. Check out the video below for full details.
(Audio Transcription)
YYYYEEEESSSSSS!!! Power Rangers! The most exciting children's show of all time is the subject of our discussion today. We will be discussing the first two season's cast members: Billy, Trini, Tommy, Jason, kimberly, and Zack.
AAAAAAAANND let's get into it! Austin St John played Jason, the original red ranger and my favorite growing up. Although he did leave the show after season two due to payment disputes before that he was the buff, hunk of the show and a great martial artist. He actually ended up owning his own martial arts studio after the show and after running that for a few years decided to become a real life hero and is now a fireman and paramedic in Washington DC.
Amy Jo Johnson played Kimberly, the pink ranger. And here's a little tidbit of information, she actually hated the color pink. Any way after leaving Power Rangers she persuade a whole slew of career possibilities. She went into the music industry for a little while, she painted for a little while, She was in other movies and TV shows, and right now you can actually catch her on Flashpoint where she plays some lady who carries a gun. I don't really know what she does.
David Yost played Billy, the original Blue ranger and longest remaining cast member from the original cast. No unfortunately David did leave the show on negative terms stating that he was teased and bullied constantly. Which is so unfortunate because Power Rangers is a show about standing up against bullies. But David stated that he was the constant subject of homosexual bigotry. A few years after Power Rangers, David came out of the closet and admitted that he was gay, but overcoming the bullying and persecution he went on to become a very successful television producer! Well . . . he became a TV producer, not necessarily successful.
Thuy Trang played Trini the original yellow ranger (Try saying that three times fast, it is extremely difficult). She came over to America as a refuge with her parents from Vietnam at a very young age and actually went on to having one of the more successful careers out of any of the other actors or actresses from Power Rangers. Prior to appearing on Power Rangers she actually earned her degree for civil engineering but decided that her american dream was to become an actress. Unfortunately Thuy's acting career was cut short after a car accident in 2001 that claimed her life. At her memorial service original cast members Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost were quoted in saying that Thuy was "the most fearless person I'd ever met." and " a true inspiration."
Walter Jones played Zack as the original black ranger. Now I know what you're thinking, an african-american as the black ranger, and an asian cast as the yellow ranger. How racist is Zordon? But someone's already taken care of this in another youtube video, so I won't touch on it here today. After Power Rangers, Walter continued acting, but only made guest appearances for one or two episodes on the TV series he appeared on. He left Power Rangers after season two along with Austin and Thuy due to payment disputes. I think this picture pretty well sums up his feelings towards Saban and his feelings towards them as he left the show.
Jason David Frank played Tommy, the green ranger who was originally introduced as an evil character sent by Rita to destroy the other Rangers. That's why his costume is 100% cooler than the rest of the Power Rangers. The green ranger did become good and in season two Tommy became the white ranger. After Power Rangers however Jason, who is extremely dedicated to the martial arts developed his own style of martial arts, which I can't pronounce and so I won't even attempt, and then became a professional MMA fighter. So far he's only been in a few fights but as far as I've seen his record is still "undefeated". But what do you expect. he is the green ranger. Until next time, thanks for watching. This is the Herald Angel.
Mara Wilsoncaptured our hearts at a young age. She was just too cute in Mrs Doubtfire, too witty in Miracle on 34th Street, and too AWESOME in Matilda. But what happened to her? Where'd she go? Is she still alive? What has she been up to for the past few years? Why is she not in any movies anymore. These are all questions I had when I set out to find her.
Watch the video and follow the link to find out where she is and why she left Hollywood.
I awoke early that morning with questions in my mind. I could sleep any longer and I couldn't lay in bed and let the madness take a hold of me. I had to get up. I was restless. I was thirsting, hungering for knowledge, and I went to try to quench that thirst and hunger with simply food but nothing would suffice. I decided to go to the internet which I had always trusted to educate me and to answer all the questions I might have had. Today I had a very specific question (What happened to Matilda?), and though answers appeared, they weren't all the answers I needed. There was only one place I could go, only one person I trusted.
(Phone rings)
Hello?
Hey
I was sleeping!
Do you know what happened to Matilda?
What? Mara Wilson?
Yeah I guess. I don't know her real name.
Yeah the girl who played Matilda. I know what happened to her.
Well where is she? What's she been up to for the past few years?
She stopped acting a few years after Matilda. You know she was in some more movies? Stuff like Mrs Doubtfire, Miracle on 34th Street, and Matilda, of course. She was also on Melrose place for a little while. She really did a lot of films.
Are you showering?
Yeah so I guess she's done some voice over work since, but other than that she's really just done some theater.
So she's pretty done with acting in file then?
I mean pretty much. That's really all she's done since then.
OK.
She said that she was eager to leave Hollywood. She felt like her identify was kinda stolen by Matilda. So she just wants people to know her for Mara. So maybe you should refer to her as Mara in the future instead of just Matilda.
Charlie Korsmo has been MIA since 1997 when he did his last movie. Where has he been? What has he been up to? Why did he leave the spot light? Find out by watching the video below.
(Audio Transcription) I'm Tyler Angel, and welcome to The Herald Angel. Our top 90's story tonight: Tragedy Has Struck; Furby is returning to the market place . . . Now we turn our time over to Tyler Angel who Will give us a story regarding Charles Korsmo lost/missing child actor. Thank you Tyler. I'm here today with film enthusiast and all around great guy, Tyler Angel, who's here to give us a little detail into the life of Charles Korsmo. How are you doing today Tyler? I'm doing really well. I'm doing really well. How are you? Good. Thank you, thank you. Now, we're told that you are some sort an of expert regarding Charles. Could you give us a little detail into his early file life? Let me just stop you for a second to tell you, I am your BIGGEST fan! Biggest fan, you're so awesome. . . . Charles started acting at a very young age. Some of his major roles that he played were in things like "Dick Tracy", he played Iggy in "What About Bob", and also he was in the movie Hook where he played opposite . . . well, do you remember Hook? Of course, with Robin Williams. Perfect, Yeah! Now I think many of us know that Charles, or Charlie as he was better known back then, played Jack, Robin Williams son. Was that his last movie , in 1991? In 1991 he announced his retirement from film, but then decided he was going to pull a Michael Jordan move and come back a few years later. So in 1997 he was in another film that I really can't remember what's it's called . . . Now, Why would he retire at such a young age? Something very interesting about Charlie is that, he didn't really enjoy acting. Acting was OK for him but he really did it because he was bored in school. He did it as something to get him through elementary school. You know, just to kinda' kill time until he moved on. He seems like he was a pretty smart guy. Yeah in 2000 actually he went on to graduate from MIT. He had a 4.0 GPA and left with a degree in Physics. So he's a really smart guy. And actually after that he ended up going to Yale University and graduating from their school of law, and then ended up working to the US House of representatives. Well thank you so much Tyler for coming on the show, it's really been a pleasure having you. And thank you so much for watching at home. Until next time this is the Herald Angel, and we'll see you around.
